Welcome to Urology Specialists of the Lehigh Valley (USLV) Radiation and Imaging Center. We are one of the few specialty specific, and dedicated, urologic cancer (prostate, bladder, testes) radiation therapy centers in the nation.
Our new facility, conveniently located, with a unique above-ground design, creates a welcoming and highly accessible treatment environment. The USLV Radiation and Imaging Center offers the most state-of-the-art radiation therapy technology and treatment plans. The center's equipment and technology are on par with what are available at large academic institutions, while being able to commit them solely for the treatment of cancers of the prostate, bladder and testes and other urologic malignancies.
Treatment technologies available to our patients include:
- Three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3DCRT)
- Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)
- RapidArc™ radiation therapy technology
- Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT)
Evident at first visit is the patient-centered care philosophy of providing urologic cancer patients with the best possible care by a team of highly trained and experienced clinicians. The staff at the USLV Radiation and Imaging Center is dedicated to each patient's comfort and well-being, in addition to being responsive to each patient's unique needs. They continually research new techniques and stay abreast of the ever changing technology in the field of radiation therapy.
The team includes:
- Board certified radiation oncologist, Dr. Mark Alden, who establishes the patient's treatment plan and oversees the healthcare management of each patient's treatments.
- A medical physicist/dosimetry team that assists the radiation oncologist in the treatment planning stages by providing accurate calculations of radiation doses and establishes the optimal treatment plan for each specific patient. The physicist is also responsible for radiation protection and quality assurance.
- The radiation therapists work directly with patients to deliver daily radiation treatment as planned by the radiation oncologist and physics team. They are licensed by ARRT and compassionately work with patients and their families to provide the utmost quality of care.
- The licensed CT technologist works alongside the radiation oncologist and radiation therapists during the treatment planning phases. The CT technologist helps incorporate scanning technology and anatomy representation into a patient's treatment planning in order to ensure the patient receives the very best treatment plan.

You may be referred to the USLV Radiation and Imaging Center, which is part of USLV, for consultation and possibly treatment by a radiation oncologist. However, you are free to choose where you wish to be treated, and should you desire to, we can assist you in choosing an alternate provider.
