2008
- The 31st Annual Muhlenberg High School Mathematics Contest scheduled for Saturday, February 23 has been postponed due to the snow. We plan to reschedule the contest and will be contacting coaches soon.
2007

- On April 26th, 2007 Muhlenberg College held the 5th Annual Inductions into the Pennsylvania Chi Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, a national honorary mathematics society. Twelve students were inducted. Pictures are available via the following link. [More Info]

Einstein-related activities (3/14 is also Einstein's birthday) - The Mathematical Sciences Department held its 30th Annual High School Mathematics Contest on February 24, 2007. Faculty and students welcomed participants from nine local high schools. In the contest's first ever tie, Emmaus and Parkland earned first place honors while Northampton was second. 2006
- On October 27-28 Jeffrey Levy ('09) and Patrick Prince ('09), participated in a student poster session at the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges Eastern Conference at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. They presented the research they did over the summer as part of an NSF-CRUI grant. Jeff won third place for best research poster. This was out of a field of 22 graduate and undergraduate research posters. The title of his poster was "XMLHttpRequest in Small Scale Web Programming". Patrick's poster was titled "Digital Analysis of Herbivory."
- The first Mathematical Sciences Colloquium of the 2006-07 year will be held on Thursday, September 28 at 4:15 in Trumbower 140. The speakers will be our own Allison Davis and Christy Hediger. [More Info]
- Dr. William Dunham, Truman Koehler Professor of Mathematics at Muhlenberg College, received the Lester R. Ford Award on August 11, 2006 at the Summer MathFest in Knoxville, TN. [Read More]
- The Mathematical Sciences Department welcomes Dr. Mike Huber to the faculty. Dr. Huber is teaching Differential Equations and Calculus I this fall.

- Assistant Professor Clif Kussmaul received a grant from Hewlett Packard that included 20 wireless laptops, a tablet PC, related hardware, and money to support students and faculty. The grant explores ways to improve open source collaboration tools. [Read More]

- Aaron Weakland '04 and Andrea Radisch '04 served as co-presidents of the Math Club for academic year 2003-2004.
- Gabe Feinberg '04 joined Dr. W. Dunham during the fall for an indepedent study in Number Theory. Role playing was an integral part of this course as Gabe presented proofs to the faculty on multiple occasions.
- Summer exposure to remote sensing software and algorithms provided a foundation for a fall independent study that Dr. Cicconetti ran with students Rita Shafer '04 and Jared Lander '04. [Read More]
- During the summer, Linda McGuire and Elyn Rykken jointly supervised Stephanie Hartman's '04 independent study on remote sensing and linear algebra. [Read More]
- Andrew Porpiglia '04, was also supported by NASA funding to conduct summer research into remote sensing. [Read More]
- On March 29, 2003 Muhlenberg College held the 1st Annual Inductions into the Pennsylvania Chi Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, a national honorary mathematics society. [More Info]
- Student teams in the Software Engineering course taught by Dr. Clif Kussmaul (Mathematical Sciences) in the spring semester worked on developing products to assist people with disabilities. [Read More]
2002
- Aaron Weakland '04 spent the Summer of 2002 working under the guidance of Dr. Linda McGuire on problems in the field of graph theory.
- Senior Heather McDonough '02 participated in a summer REU hosted by SUNY in Postam. [Read More]
- Seniors Chris Weber, Eric Milford, and Bob Bergmann '02 were involved in an independent study in Computer Science this past spring. They studied the Graphical User Interface (GUI) languages of Visual Basic and Visual C++ and wrote projects in each language. Dr. David Nelson was the faculty advisor for this experience.
2001
- Under the sponsorship of a Muhlenberg College Summer Research Grant, Math/CS student Bill Stevenson '02 created a web-based brain dissection laboratory. [Read More]
