Muhlenberg College's Mathematics and Computer Science students have plenty of opportunities to complement their coursework. Motivated students may explore topics that fall outside of our department's course offerings with an independent study. Independent studies may be content-driven and address classic subjects, such as number theory. Or, they may be application-driven leading both student and faculty advisor down possibly unexpected paths. Muhlenberg faculty and students also take advantage of the summer months for more focused research experiences. Our students have also traveled the country to take advantage of NSF-funded summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) and courted industry to obtain interships with local business and services. Some recent highlights follow.
